Building Change:
SOS Children's Villages is a non-governmental organization that has been supporting the universal human rights of children in 132 countries around the world since 1949. Forming out of the devastation of the Second World War, SOS Children's Villages gives hope for the betterment of living conditions and a place for abandoned children to call home. SOS Children's Villages focuses on providing long-term stability for impoverished children whom are not able to live with their biological families, often due to separation, war, and domestic violence and ever increasingly AIDS.
Building Communities:
SOS Children's Villages builds bridges in communities by starting at the core of the community- the family. Social services are provided so that equitable access to social support networks are available to those who have difficulty coping with the harsh realities of what would be considered a not-so-every day life. Maintaining relationships with the families within a community allows families to flourish and supports the positive-minded upbringing of children.
Building Families:
SOS Children's Villages provides family strengthening programs to allow families in need to cope and persevere in the face of adversity.
The programs provide resources for everyday living, such as health care and access to education to prevent the abandonment of children in the event that parents are unable to maintain a well-established quality of living. SOS Children's Villages ultimate goal is to keep families together.
